How can I get involved in skiff sailing?
I have been sailing my entire life and now that I have graduated from high school I have the opportunity to do…well whatever I want.
I have no experience sailing skiffs but years of experience teaching and racing on dozens of different boats. I want to get involved racing 29er, 49ers and all of those pretty boats but with limited funds I just do not know where to start.
I would love to travel overseas and work for a sailing school where I could coach optis, 420s, lasers and such and then make use of the skiffs after hours. So far this is my only idea and I don’t have any leads on this one.
Any insight or advice would be much appreciated. Cheers.
If there’s a local yacht club near you search their site for a crew list. Small boat sailors are always looking for crew, you could find a ride on a star, a thistle , a snipe or other two or three person boat and get into the sport that way.
